A successful move is more than copying a folder. You need to know which files, applications and everyday tasks matter, what is ready to move, and what still needs attention. Start with an inventory before changing either computer.

Decide what you need to find, use and access on the new computer.

Check the starting condition
Can the old computer start normally and read the files you want to move? Is there a usable backup? Is the new device the platform you expected? If the answer is uncertain, explain that before booking.
Windows Backup is one Microsoft option to understand, but it is not a promise that every file, application or setting will be recreated. Review Microsoft's backup and restore guidance against your circumstances. Do not assume a visible cloud icon proves every important item is protected.
If your backup plan is unclear, start with setting up a home-computer backup you can check before changing the old computer.
Agree what “finished” means
Choose a few representative files and everyday tasks from your essentials list. These become handover checks, not a guarantee that sampling proves every byte transferred. Keep a list of exceptions or work that will continue afterwards.
