Virus and malware help · Ivanhoe & Eaglemont

Think your computer has a virus? Get a calm diagnosis and a clear next step.

We inspect one working Windows or Mac computer, follow the evidence and complete safe user-level removal where practical—without treating every pop-up or slow day as proof of infection.

The symptoms

Does this sound familiar?

Pop-ups and warnings will not stop

Unexpected alerts, advertisements or fake security messages keep returning even after you close the browser.

The browser or computer changed by itself

Searches redirect, unfamiliar extensions or programs appear, or settings no longer stay where you put them.

Something feels wrong, but you cannot prove why

Security software reports a concern, the computer behaves unpredictably or a suspicious download may have started the problem.

Evidence before action

Check what is actually happening.

Similar symptoms can come from unwanted software, browser settings, ordinary updates or hardware trouble. The visit follows the evidence before recommending removal, repair or another specialist.

Diagnose before buying

Inspect the computer before declaring it infected.

The visit connects the symptoms with observable changes on the computer. That keeps the response proportionate and makes clear when the issue is malware, a different fault or work that needs a specialist.

Symptoms and recent history

We establish what changed, what was downloaded or clicked and whether suspicious behaviour is still active.

Installed software and startup items

We review user-level applications and items that start with the computer for unfamiliar or unwanted changes.

Browser settings and extensions

We inspect supported browsers for unwanted extensions, redirects, notification permissions and changed search or startup settings.

Security scans and detections

We use supported built-in or reputable tools to scan and review detections without promising that one tool can prove a device completely clean.

Updates and protection state

We check supported operating-system, browser and security updates and apply straightforward changes where appropriate.

Residual risk and next step

We identify what was removed, what remains uncertain and whether reset, reinstall, hardware or specialist work is the safer path.

What is included

Clear scope. No mystery box.

One working personal computer

The visit covers one bootable Windows or Mac computer that you are authorised to have inspected.

Up to 90 minutes onsite

Local call-out and the agreed diagnosis and safe user-level remediation are included without an automatic hourly overrun.

Safe removal and browser cleanup

We remove or quarantine agreed detections and reverse straightforward unwanted browser or startup changes where practical.

Supported security updates

Relevant operating-system, browser and protection updates are applied when they are safe and fit within the visit.

Basic post-remediation check

We recheck the reported behaviour and relevant indicators without claiming that future infection is impossible.

Written findings and boundaries

You receive what was observed and changed, remaining risks and any separately scoped or referral next step.

How it works

From frustrating to understood.

  1. 1

    Describe what changed

Tell us about warnings, downloads, redirects and recent contact. If ransomware or financial exposure is active, stop using the device and use the urgent official pathway first.

  2. 2

We inspect and act on evidence

We review the agreed computer, run appropriate checks and complete safe user-level removal and cleanup within scope.

  3. 3

Verify and document the next step

We recheck the symptoms, explain what can and cannot be concluded and provide the written outcome before any extra work is agreed.

Before you book

Frequently asked, fully answered.

What does the $250 visit include?

The GST-inclusive price covers local call-out in Ivanhoe or Eaglemont and up to 90 minutes onsite for one working Windows or Mac computer, including the agreed inspection, supported scans, safe user-level removal and browser cleanup where practical, relevant updates, a basic recheck and written next steps.

Can every infected computer be cleaned in one visit?

No. Some cases require a reset or reinstall, more time, specialist ransomware handling, data recovery or hardware work. We explain the evidence and agree any separately scoped next step rather than promising an instant result.

Can you guarantee that the computer is completely clean afterwards?

No tool or short visit can guarantee that a device is completely clean, permanently secure or protected from future infection. We report what was checked, detected and changed, plus any residual risk.

What if I see a ransom demand or cannot open my files?

Stop using the device and disconnect it from the network. Do not pay or attempt random fixes through this standard visit. Ransomware, decryption and lost-file recovery require a specialist response, and suspected cybercrime can be reported through ReportCyber.

Is this the right service after a scam or account takeover?

Device malware may be one part of an incident, but exposed accounts, remote-access scams, stolen funds or identity concerns fit the separate Scam & Account Security Assessment. Provider-controlled recovery remains with the provider, and active financial exposure goes directly to the bank using official details.

Will you need my passwords or security codes?

You enter credentials yourself. Naked Tech never asks for banking PINs, card security codes, one-time authentication codes or recovery material and does not retain customer credentials.

Prefer to write?

Tell us what the computer is doing

Include the computer type, warnings or pop-ups, when the behaviour began and whether files, money or accounts may be affected. Do not send passwords, codes, banking details or government identifiers.
